The Kentucky Tactical Officers Association sponsored the Tire Transfer Team Obstacle Event during the 1st Annual Kentucky Officers Fitness Challenge which was held at the Lexington Division of Police Obstacle Course on October 22nd. This was a huge success and we look forward to supporting this event in the years to come. We would encourage that more teams take part in this event next year. We will keep you updated on the dates.

If any of the membership knows of a worthy event, being law enforcement or military that is looking for sponsorship please forward an email to the Board of Directors and we can start looking at sponsoring more events around out state.

Below is a thank you note from the Lexington Division of Police.

"On behalf of the Lexington Division of Police and the Lexington Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, we would like to thank you for your sponsorship to the inaugural Kentucky Officers Fitness Challenge. Without your support, this event would have not been possible. We are committed to making this an annual event that promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle for officers across the Commonwealth. Officers who participated competed in a challenging 1.1 mile obstacle course as a team and individual. We also had individual challenges and relay events offered during the day. Our goal was to provide an atmosphere of challenge, networking, and community involvement for officers across the state of Kentucky.

Please extend a thank you to your Board of Directors and general membership for their support and we look forward to seeing you next year."

I would like to take a few moments of your time to thank all of the participants for attending the 5th Annual Kentucky Tactical Officers Association 2011 Conference. I realize that these are tough times for Law Enforcement and want to express gratitude for you taking time from your busy schedules to attend the conference. I am certain that this training gave you some wisdom that you will be able to apply in your tactical element as well as your career in law enforcement.

I would especially like to thank the University of Kentucky Police Department for their assistance in the use of Commonwealth Stadium, for the KTOA Top SWAT Cop Competition and assistance with the 5K run. Of course I would also like to thank all of our sponsors, vendors, presenters, Clarion Hotel and the KTOA Board. I personally would like to thank Lieutenant Rodney Sherrod (Our Founder) for all of his vision, leadership and help.

Lastly I want every KTOA member to realize that you are what make the KTOA a success. This association is yours, please stay involved and don’t hesitate to contact your regional representative or anyone on the board. Again thank you for another successful conference and I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Park City, KY on October 10-12, 2011 for the KTOA Team Competition.

    Your President,
    Robert Richardson

    Fellow Brother and Sister Warriors

I would like to first acknowledge all of our members and sponsors for a great year in 2010. This association has grown tremendously with the support of departments throughout Kentucky and the surround states. Our sponsors have been huge in our success along with the devoted membership.

Your Board of Directors has been very busy so far this year to bring you yet another great conference. We are gearing up for the 2011 Conference to be held in Lexington Kentucky, August 7-10th at the Clarion Hotel. We are bringing you the best that the tactical world has to offer as well as keeping with our roots of learning from our past. I am certain that everyone that attends will not be disappointed in there training experience as well as the networking benefit with other operators around the Commonwealth.

We are also working with our Training Director Sgt. Fritz Graas to finalize the roster for our Basic SWAT course that will be held April 4-15 at Ft. Knox Kentucky. There is still time and slots available so don’t hesitate; contact Sgt. Graas as soon as possible. This is a great basic course and is supported by the Kentucky League of Cities and Kentucky Association of Counties.

As you can see KTOA is hard at work and gearing up for a great 2011. We are currently working on providing additional tactical training throughout the state in different regions, so stay tuned to our web site for up coming training opportunities.

I closing I leave you with these words:

"of every hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are nothing but targets, nine are real fighters ... We are lucky to have them ...The battle they make. Ah, but the one, one of them is a warrior ...and he will bring the others back."
    -Hericletus

We must all aspire to be that one Warrior, that one leader that will bring our people, community, state and country back to safety. Remember brothers and sisters lets Stand as One and make our association as strong as ever.

    Rob Richardson
    KTOA President
